Take down the walls of Fortress North America
The convergence of Empire and the corporations which profit from the policies of war and colonization they help dictate, is rarely made more explicit than by the location of the U.S consulate in Montreal: housed within the headquarters of SNC-Lavalin, one of Canada's premiere merchants of war.
As the "War on Terror" continues to serve as the contemporary pretext for the exploitation, criminalization, detention and killing of people within the walls of Fortress North America and around the world, Canada's role in the global empire of corporate colonization has not slackened. SNC-Lavalin, Canada's largest engineering company, Is a near-perfect reflection of the policies of the Canadian government. From their bullet production for the occupation of Iraq to their mining-related projects in Namibia, Guyana, Mozambique, to their projects in Cree, Mohawk and Innu lands, here at home, their hands have been bloodied in virtually every place around the globe where there are resources to be exploited and populations to be pacified. Their corporate profits benefit from and dictate the policies of Empire. SNC-Lavalin is Canadian imperialism.
Anarchists from across the continent will be gathering in Montreal to share experiences and knowledge from our diverse communities and struggles for dignity, hope and life. It is a perfect opportunity to join together to confront the Montreal home-base of the US government and Canadian war-profiteering.
Across Canada, there is a campaign underway to "Take Down SNC" a challenge to everyone who seeks to profit from war and occupation and a challenge to Canadian imperialism from inside Fortress North America. This demonstration will help to move that campaign forward while expressing our total opposition to the US and Canadian governments and their colonialist policies around the world.
